To Be A Scam Victim

I was asked to help a family that claimed to be stranded in OKC as they were attempting to get home somewhere up north.  I charged things with the promise of reimbursement and of course no money was returned to me.  I have assumed almost $1300 in new debt.

Before I get a wave of people saying I should report this to prevent this guy from scamming anyone else, well, a police report has been made.  Churches that have been scammed have been notified that this con man has briefly surfaced again and located another willing victim.

Just in case social media might help locate and put a stop to this con man I provide the picture and a page from the InterNet that talk about this guy.   I have learned that this man, who goes by two names that I know of, [Michael Cypert, or Michael Nathanial Ethans] has scammed churches in a number of places.

I don’t need anyone to attempt to explain to me where I went wrong, or how I happened to make so many stupid mistakes, or didn’t I see the red flags, or that I am dumb as a box of hair.  I have been saying all those things and worse to myself,  for days now.

While I am embarrassed by what happened I want to write about it because social media might warn others of this con man [I know that is unlikely but still. . .] and secondly, I have such low self-esteem that I feel like I should embarrass myself as much as humanly possible in the hopes I will get to that place where I could really believe I've suffered enough.  Not there yet.

I feel I now have undeniable evidence that I am dumb, stupid, a rube, and a fool.  I would be upset if someone had taken a gun and forced me to give them $1300, of course, but there is something different about being scammed.

When you are the victim of a scam you are actually an assistant to the robber.  You voluntarily help the con man to rob you.  I feel like I can’t call this a crime because I gave the man my money.  There was no gun.  There was no threat of harm.  I had a desire to help someone that I was lead to believe was in trouble, and this con man exploited my good intentions.  I feel like I wasn’t robbed, but that I robbed myself.

I will be able to eat.  I will be able to continue paying my bills.  But I will also be making credit card payments for the next year or two paying off this con man’s loot, and then paying off the loot interest charged by the Credit Card company.    This will make it more difficult for me to help my son, should he need the help.  This will prevent me from making a needed repair at my home.  This is  a hit I can absorb but it is still a hit.

Michael, claiming to be the Archbishop of the Holy Old Orthodox Catholic Archdiocese and church, called me to ask if he could borrow money, which, like a damned fool, I sent it to him, because he said he was an archbishop. Michael promised to send it back to me in two days, which was three weeks ago. I did some investigations on his so-called church and found out that it too was a fraud. Michael, in my estimation, is a habitual liar and a thief. Anyone who wants to be ordained as a priest, by Michael, should beware! his ordinations, his website and he, is a fraud.
